Position Overview

The Sales Support Engineer is the operational and technical backbone of the commercial organization. Working closely with the Sales Engineers, Service Engineers, suppliers, and customers, you ensure that customer requests are translated into accurate quotations and efficiently executed orders.

You are responsible for coordinating the complete commercial support process—from customer inquiry and quotation to purchasing, order administration, delivery, and invoicing. Your technical understanding, attention to detail, and customer-focused approach ensure that every project is executed efficiently and professionally.

The reporting line is directly to the Managing Director of RENK Benelux, while you will work closely with the global RENK Marine sales and service organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial Support: Support the Sales Engineers throughout the complete sales process by preparing quotations, coordinating technical information, and ensuring timely follow-up.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for customers regarding quotations, orders, delivery status, and after-sales support.
  • Quotation Management: Manage the complete quotation process by analysing customer requests, defining the required scope, and preparing value-based commercial proposals.
  • Technical Coordination: Determine the required scope for spare parts and field service activities and coordinate internally with engineering and service departments.
  • Supplier Management: Request quotations from suppliers, evaluate commercial proposals, prepare purchase orders, and monitor supplier performance and deliveries.
  • Order Management: Coordinate the complete order process from order confirmation through purchasing, logistics, delivery, invoicing, and project closure.
  • Customer Communication: Keep customers informed throughout the execution process regarding order progress, delivery schedules, shipping documentation, and project status.
  • Technical Customer Support: Provide first-line technical support for products, spare parts, and service activities, escalating complex issues where required.
  • Claims Management: Coordinate customer claims and warranty cases with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure timely resolution.
  • Sales Administration: Maintain accurate customer records, order backlog, sales planning tools, and commercial forecasts to support efficient business operations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to improving commercial processes, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency within the organization.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree or equivalent working and thinking level in Mechanical Engineering, Maritime Engineering, Mechatronics, or another relevant technical discipline.
  • Technical & Commercial Affinity: Strong technical understanding combined with commercial awareness and a customer-oriented mindset.
  • Languages: Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
  • Experience: Experience in the maritime, mechanical engineering, or industrial service sector is preferred.
  • Planning & Organization: Able to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a proactive and solution-oriented attitude.
  • ERP & Office Software: Experience working with ERP systems and Microsoft Office is considered an advantage.

Compensation and benefits

More than competitive fixed monthly salary. Besides a fixed salary, we offer excellent secondary employment conditions in accordance with the collective labour agreement for the Metal Working Industry (CAO Metaalbewerkingsbedrijf). This includes 38 days of annual leave, PMT pension, and opportunities for professional development through internal and external training courses within the RENK Group.
