The role
As a Cyber Security Engineer at Damen Naval, you will play a critical role in developing a secure cyber design for our frigates, specifically for the German F126 program. Your expertise will be essential throughout the project lifecycle, helping ensure the success of the four frigates and their training centers, and safeguarding the delivery to our German customer (BAAINBw).
Key accountabilities
- Contribute to the engineering process by developing deliverables such as specification documents, functional descriptions, schematic drawings and security concepts.
- Participate in discussions with experts in IT security, OT security, emission security and physical security.
- Contribute to test and verification plans for security measures.
- Participate in design checks and reviews to guarantee the required Cybersecurity standards.
- Verify technical performance of vendors and subcontractors.
- Perform technical analysis on received offers, in close cooperation with the Purchase department.
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable requirements and specifications imposed by Class and the customer.
- Work with vendors and subcontractors to obtain their timely contributions to the project.
- Contribute to the further development of the E&A Engineering department.
Skills & experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in industrial Automation, IT Systems, Information Security Management or another relevant discipline.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in the design or maintenance of complex IT or OT systems, preferably in ships, offshore or industrial installations.
- Extensive experience and broad knowledge of networking and IT systems, including related hardware infrastructure and system hardening.
- Extensive experience and broad knowledge of different networking architectures, layers and protocols, cyber security concepts, data encryption and radiation safety.
- Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations related to Cybersecurity, such as ISO 27001 and IEC 62443.
- Willingness to work with German security standards.
- Experience with the German Armed Forces standards A-960/1 and A-962/1 and familiarity with the SAVe tool from Infodas is an advantage.
- Experience working with third-party vendors and subcontractors.
- Good command of the German and English languages (written & verbal).
- Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
- Permanent EU citizenship and passport are required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible due to the military nature of the projects.
